GEN Y - WE'RE NOT ALL SLACKERS!

It seems that generation Y has developed a reputation for being "slackers". In my opinion it is not fair to label an entire generation based on this extreme stereotype. we not are all 'bludging no hopers'!
Although less people in gen y are enduring hard labour for their money, they are being given the opportunity to study. This education will allow them to work harder and be successful later in life.
I agree we lead easier, and more comfortable lives now, but i do not see this as a negative thing. The fact that we are being assisted financially (either by parents of government payment) while we are studying will ensure that our generation will be well educated.
The majority of us still possess the work ethics that out parents and grandparents had.
The small percentage of 'slackers' that are uneducated, living at home and bludging off centerlink should not be used as an example of gen y. I am sure there were some lazy people in the 70s too!

netiquette

what is "netiquette"?

Network etiquette, or the set of informal rules of behavior that have evolved in Cyberspace, including the internet and online services.

I think "netiquette" is a good idea. When people are communicating online they should show the same respect and manners they would when communicating face to face (in most cases)

Three sites that a visited were:
http://www.netalert.gov.au/advice/behaviour/netiquette_emoticons/What_is_netiquette.html
This is the government site, it defined netiquette

http://www.albion.com/netiquette/introduction.html
This site contained the 10 core rules of netiquette

http://www.cypresscollege.edu/~online/index.php?page=5
This site had a quiz on netiquette

1) what is a blog?
‘A weblog is a hierarchy of text, images, media objects and data, arranged chronologically, that can be viewed in an HTML browser.’

2) what is web2.0?
Web 2.0 is a term describing the trend in the use of
World Wide Web technology and web design that aims to enhance creativity, information sharing, and, most notably, collaboration among users. These concepts have led to the development and evolution of web-based communities and hosted services, such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies.

3) what is social networking?
The idea of a social network is that uses are invited to create thier own page about the associated website, adding information about themselves, perhaps uploading photos and videos, and then sharing this with online contacts by connecting their profile with those of others.

4) How do photo sharing websites work?
Photo sharing is the
publishing or transfer of a user's digital photos online, thus enabling the user to share them with others (whether publicly or privately). This functionality is provided through both websites and applications that facilitate the upload and display of images. The term can also be loosely applied to the use of online photo galleries that are setup and managed by individual users, including photoblogs.

5) What are some useful strategies for preserving privacy when using the internet?
Using password protection, limit who has access to your profile, don't post any information that you would not want others to read, keep valuable data such as credit card numbers, and phone number and home address private.
